Ocular Allergies

Another reason your eyes may be irritated is due to ocular allergy. The most common symptom of ocular allergy is itching of the eyes especially in the corner by your nose. Often patients experience redness of the eyes and itchy lids as well. There are medicated eye drops and ointments which can be prescribed to reduce your symptoms. A cold compress on closed lids and reducing exposure to allergic triggers can also help to reduce the irritation.

Ocular allergies be caused by an irritant in the air (pollen or mold), by detergents or scents in soaps or lotions, by make-up or lash extensions, by food or drink or by animal dander. A patient may have one or more trigger that can cause ocular allergy symptoms.
