If the oil glands by your lashes are not flowing well, your tears will evaporate too quickly. This rapid tear evaporation could be the cause of your dry eyes. There are several different treatments which can motivate these glands to function better. Using hot compresses daily is a basic home therapy which can help. There are more advanced in office treatments on the market as well which may increase gland expression by reducing inflammation or cleaning out blocked glands.

Blepharitis and Treatment

Blepharitis is an overgrowth of the natural biofilm in the lid area. This creates crusts and flakes at the lid margin. The inflammation caused by blepharitis maybe another cause of your dry eyes. There are several treatments both in home (lid wipes and sprays) and in office for treatment of blepharitis. Treating blepharitis can dramatically reduce your dry eye symptoms.
